Deciding to Quit Pokemon Go

While studying for the CPA exam, I'd already set aside video games and social media to protect the time and focus I needed. Pokemon Go was the one thing I kept telling myself was different - low effort, just a few taps a day, not really a distraction.

During a study break, I found myself thinking about the parable of the rich young man, who asked Christ what more he needed to do, and was told to sell what he had. I wasn't reading it as a literal command about a phone game, but the question itself stuck with me: what more was I holding onto that I didn't actually need?

Pokemon Go was my answer. It wasn't a dramatic decision, more just recognizing that if everything else had already gone, keeping this one thing around because it felt harmless was its own kind of excuse. So I let it go too, and got back to studying.
